Take the suburban train out to the , the former palace of the French monarchy, originally built by Louis XIV to be grander than all preceding palaces, and tour the interior, the gardens, and Marie Antoinettes Petit Trianon "farm". On Sundays in Summer the elaborate 18th Century system of fountains play, and you can see the gardens as they were seen by Sunday tourists, courtiers, and royals almost three centuries ago. Evening free.
